Eligibility

PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY: The 2019/20 disciplines are Photography and Painting/Drawing. Applicants are MFA preferred. Applicants may not be enrolled in any degree program at time of residency. Disciplines rotate each academic year. International artists are responsible for obtaining a visa, as well as necessary documentation for travel and employment within the United States. MWPAI can provide formal letters of invitation and additional support information requested, however it is the artist's responsibility to carry the burden of the visa acquisition process through the appropriate channels. Please consider the timeline for making such arrangements. Artists must be reasonably fluent in English. MWPAI is a recognized program by International Arts & Artists, a non-profit organization that sponsors J-1 visas for international interns, trainees, and scholars participating in cultural exchanges with American arts institutions. Number of Participants

The Munson-Williams- Proctor Arts Institute Artists in Residence program (AIR) is an education based residency which allows two (2) emerging artists from different disciplines to live and work on the MWPAI and PrattMWP College of Art & Design campus in Utica, NY for one academic year (approx 9 months). Program Description

Applications for the 2019/20 Artists in Residence program are now being accepted in PHOTOGRAPHY or PAINTING/DRAWING. Applications may be submitted now through Monday, Feb 25, 2019, Midnight EST. The AIR program is designed for emerging artists or recent visual arts MFA graduates interested in art education on both a community and college level while receiving support to develop a vibrant, self-directed studio practice. Programming includes presenting a lecture to PrattMWP students and the public, teaching community arts education classes, holding a public open studio event, and designing and implementing accessible community projects at the Museum of Art. Artists receive financial support, paid teaching, housing, meals, studio, and two-person exhibition in the museum’s PrattMWP Gallery. Disciplines rotate each year.
