Collective Creation Laboratory 2027

Can Serrat Art Residency

No Funding
El Bruc, Spain

Eligibility

The program is open to artists, writers, and researchers from diverse disciplines, including the arts, humanities, sciences, and expanded practices. It is designed for individuals interested in collective processes, walking-based methodologies, and site-responsive research. Applicants should demonstrate a willingness to engage in shared practices, contribute to a collective working environment, and develop their work through exchange and experimentation. There are no strict disciplinary limitations, but participants are expected to be open to collaboration, process-oriented work, and engagement with the landscape and context of Montserrat.

Number of Participants

The program takes place within a shared residency environment at Can Serrat, hosting an international group of artists, writers, and researchers working across disciplines. While the laboratory itself focuses on a smaller working group to ensure meaningful exchange and collective engagement, participants coexist within a broader community that can host up to approximately 20 residents. This structure allows for both concentrated group processes and wider informal interactions, fostering a dynamic ecosystem of shared practices, dialogue, and collaboration across different projects and fields.

Program Description

This intensive collaborative residency is structured as a six-week laboratory divided into two thematic phases, each composed of three weeks. Participants may join individual weeks (in specific cases) or follow the full trajectory, which is the recommended format. The program explores walking as a methodological tool for artistic and research practices, combining embodied observation, ecological awareness, storytelling, and collective reflection. Through activities such as group walks, writing, sound, video, and discussion-based sessions, participants develop ongoing research and production processes, culminating in a final phase of synthesis and formalization of the work
