Program Description

About Program: Drawing 101, led by David Gersten (Founding Director of ALN and Professor of Architecture at The Cooper Union), begins with the fundamentals of drafting and the tools of the craft. Participants explore the rhythm and choreography of drawing—treating instruments like the pencil, scale, and triangle as extensions of perception. Rather than drawing to show something, students will draw to see—developing increasingly complex and immersive works. About the Director: David Gersten is a NYC-based architect, artist, and educator. He is Distinguished Professor at The Cooper Union and Founding Director of ALN. He has collaborated with UNICEF, the UN, and the Venice Biennale, and serves on the Board of Big Picture Learning.
