Off-Grid Fall Artist-In-Residence in Vermont

The Sable Project

No Funding
Stockbridge, United States

Eligibility

This Residency is for adult artists of all ages, but specifically targeted at artists confident in their creative processes and interested in working on solo projects. Much like the fall season, this residency is a quieter, more introspective option than our summer residency. With 2-4 artists on the land, and the focus will be on diving deep into your creative work. Applicants are asked to outline a project they are interested in working on. If you are seeking a residency with a pristine studio or a technology-heavy creative process, this may not be for you. But if you want to be outdoors, form community, live in a tent, and nourish your creative process with fresh food & beautiful land, this just may be the perfect fit! You will need to fill out the application on our website, as well as submit a website of your work, or a CV along with examples of your work. Deadline is August 1st, 11:59pm EST

Number of Participants

There will be between 2-4 artists on the land during September. In addition, a group of 2 Sable Team Members will live and work at the land, and will be there to help with the everyday needs of the resident artists.

Program Description

Residencies are 3 weeks long from September 8th-29th. Food & Art Friday (Sept. 27th) is an opportunity to share art, pizza, and community with the public. Artists have access to our 3 mini-studios, performance stage, communal kitchen, bathhouse, and 15 acres of woodland & gardens in which to create art, source materials, and nourish yourself & your creative process. Our fee is $225-$450 for the 3 week session. Why the scale in price? Fall Residents are given the opportunity to either work on the land or not. If they choose to, they can work up to 12 hours per week, consisting of gardening work with our partner Fat Dragon Farm, trail building, small construction projects, or other projects around the land. NOTE: No one will be turned away if you can't afford our residency fee. We are happy to direct you to funding sources or figure out a more in-depth work-trade so that you can be here.
