Mentoring and Exhibition Program for Filmmakers and Researchers in Havana, Cuba
Arthaus Artist Residency in Havana, Cuba
Eligibility
Filmmakers may apply by presenting a work in progress to receive mentoring from a noted Cuban filmmaker, and/or by presenting a completed film to be screened at Arthaus Winter Film Program. Film critics and researchers may apply by presenting a research project, to receive mentoring from a noted Cuban film scholar. Interested artists/researchers should prepare the following information to be sent to arthauslab@gmail.com: 1. Curriculum Vitae listing relevant training and experience 2. Scan of Passport with an expiration date no sooner than three month after the final day of Residency 3. Images, pages of previous works or productions, links to videos 4. Proposal for project to be mentored or film to be screened at the Residency. Please include: ▪ Dossier of the film, work in progress or research project ▪ Media files (video links, trailers, or reference images) ▪ Timeframe and space requirements of your presentation, technical requirements, etc.
Number of Participants
Arthaus is open to international filmmakers and film critics looking for an immersive experience in their work or research. From December 1st to 21st, 2019, Arthaus will be home to four filmmakers, film critics or researchers working in any discipline of the visual arts: filmmaking, performance, writing, research, music/sound, stage and costume design, production, film events, etc. With this Program, Arthaus intends to contribute to the visibility of emerging contemporary filmmakers, film critics and researchers, by presenting their work to the international audience visiting Havana to attend the 41st Festival Internacional del Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano. The artists in residence will live 21 days in the house where their work and exhibition space is located.

Program Description
From December 5th to 12th, 2019, our city will host the 41st International Festival of New Latin American Cinema (Havana Film Festival), the largest film event in Cuba. Arthaus will host a Winter Film Program during the Festival. A three days mentoring sessions and film screenings, where residents and Festival attendees can engage with creators working outside of a mainstream institutional context. Arthaus’ main goal is to advance the selected artists’ professional and artistic development by offering a space for creative practice and experimentation, with the guidance and support of the Residency’s staff and associates. Participants are encouraged to collaborate with local filmmakers, propose workshops, and learn about the sociocultural scenario in Cuba.
