Eligibility

We are seeking emerging or established craft writers with some experience in arts writing, but craft writing is not necessary. Students, PhD candidates, freelance writers, and writers who are not employed full-time by an arts publication are welcome to apply. We are accepting applications until July 16th, 2025. If you need a letter of acceptance for secondary funding, email us ahead of the deadline.

Number of Participants

Emerging and established craft writers are invited to apply for an in-person Craft Writing Workshop at BeCraft Gallery in Mons, Belgium taking place July 29th, 2025. It is free to attend and free to apply. We are looking for a cohort of 2-5 writers to attend the workshop.

Program Description

The workshop will examine craft through a critical lens, consider the relationship between craft and contemporary criticism, with a focus on writing about material practice. The selected cohort will participate in a roundtable discussion on writing about craft, will analyze work in the gallery, and work with Lera Kotsyuba, Editor in Chief of Studio Magazine, on a short written article for publication.
