Program Description

Side Street Projects (SSP) is requesting proposals for our Spring 2020 Artist-in-Residence program titled Mobility Archived. Side Street Projects offers a one-month residency for two artists/collectives to host workshops and develop a site-specific, community-engaged art project around the theme of Mobility Archived. Mobility as diaspora. Mobility as immigration. Mobility as a source of regeneration and agency. Mobility as home. This residency requires selected artists to lead 4 workshops (on Saturdays) and 1 closing celebration/exhibition. The program is designed for artists developing socially-engaged projects and connecting them to the communities Side Street Projects serves. Our residency program honors process over product and makes space for regeneration, deep listening, and peer-to-peer mentorship. This project is funded through the generous support of the California Arts Council.
