Open Call
The Spring Residency at Cabin Point Farm
Cabin Point Farm
Eligibility
All applicants must be over the age of 18 and have a valid driver's license. As it's an active farm and rental property, residents will be required to keep a neat working and living area. While the artist is in residency, they will have the silo area (a self-sufficient part of the house), to themselves. While that will remain private, there will be visits from the farm owners to the other parts of the house. We view this overlap as an ideal opportunity for residents to learn more about the farm's workings and for us to learn more about your artistic process. We plan on having a shared dinner over the course of the residency. Upon arrival, we will introduce you to the property and the spaces that will be yours. Residents will be responsible for their own food, transportation, cleaning and other living expenses for the duration of the residency. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to cabinpointe@gmail.com

Program Description
The Spring Residency at Cabin Point Farm will look for residents proposing a site specific art installation at the intersection of land, agriculture and ecology. This installation will ideally engage with the history and community of greater Orange County, and be open to the public upon completion. The piece could include but is not limited to: a large-scale sculpture, landscaping, or even an intervention on a house surface directly. To be considered, please submit a project proposal, your portfolio and website to cabinpointe@gmail.com. Cabin Point was acquired by 4 friends in 2013 with the desire to anchor a community and forge a space for creativity, diversity, and deeper engagement with nature. Cabin Point Farms is a 33 acre piece of farmland in the heart of Rapidan, Virginia. The property includes small streams, a rolling prairie, forested corners, and views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The original cabin and the farm's namesake was built in the 1850s. It remains in use today.
