Program Description

6okken is an artist-run residency in Oishi, a small village on the north shore of Lake Kawaguchi at the foot of Mt. Fuji, about two hours from Tokyo by bus. Each resident or group has a whole house with its own kitchen, bathroom and Wi-Fi, in a cluster of six houses where our members also live and work. There is a shared studio, an online meeting before arrival, pick-up from Kawaguchiko Station with a welcome lunch, chat support during the stay, and a car ride up to twice a week for shopping and research. We are glad to write invitation letters and letters of support for grant applications. There is no required final presentation. Fee 280,000 JPY per 26-night term for the first person (320,000 JPY for summer terms 6 to 8), plus 100,000 JPY for each additional person. Travel, food and materials are covered by the artist. The 2027 terms start on Jan 22, Feb 19, Mar 19, Apr 16, May 14, Jun 25, Jul 23, Aug 20, Oct 1, Oct 29 and Nov 26. Details at www.6okken.org.
