Eligibility

Casa Xaan off the grid art residency and jungle retreat open call to international artists interested in doing a residency stay at south east mexico (min.15 days) through the period from december 2024 and until march 2025 may submit a self directed residency project to be considered. Dates of realization within period to be proposed by applicant. Focusing (but not limited) into painting and visual arts, we aim to develop collective exibition and open studios events through the seasonal holiday period (last and first two weeks of the year). Application to this program is free. Program Description

Accomodation and board provision do have a cost but this also is to be proposed by the applicant artist: we implement a slide scale factor in order to represent an inclusive opportunity, with rates averaging 20usd per day and automatic discount for third world applicants. Casa Xaan is a micro residency in a rural setting south east mexico within maya country, where the maya language, customary uses and traditions are still common trade among its inhabitants. Our visitors are mostly interested in connecting their work to the mexican cultures, to first hand access to mayan ruins and other places of interest. The landscape is quite unique with sinkholes into pristine waters randomly appearing through the Yucatan peninsula, as well as the now very famous Tulum white sand beaches.
