Program Description

In this call, AADK Spain encourages artists and researchers of all disciplines to explore the topic of “absence” in its broadest sense, to discover within this context the metaphors that allow us to coexist with this essential aspect of our existence, whether personal, social, or environmental. Absence is always an invocation. In it, something is missing, yet its essence emerges from the very act of recalling or contemplating what is not there. It reveals itself through traces—whether material or symbolic. This act of invocation holds transformative potential for our perception of the world. Absence, in this light, is not merely a lack; it becomes an opportunity to reflect, to grow, and to renew our bond with what is absent, reshaping how we relate to the world around us. Duration of residency 1 to 3 months, starting on the 1st and ending on the 30th - Images by Arnoldas Stramskas -
