Eligibility

The call is open but no limited to visual artists, writers, musicians, performers, architects and scenic artists interested in relating their work by closer approach to the Mayan area of central Quintana Roo, México. The theme for this edition remains open and so to be proposed individually. Is a production oriented grant with preference for projects which can reach conclusion through the cycle and performed within the limitations of this complex. Selection criteria based on content of proposal then on quality of previous finished work. To be elegible please include in email body: 1.name, gender, place of birth and current place of residency, 2.pdf.portfolio or links to previous work. 3. 600+ word proposal of creative process to evolve on 30 day residency. After submission will receive confirmation and PAYPAL link to application fee.

CASA XAANINNA is looking forward to extend a sponsored 30day residency program on this 2020 spring by this international open call to selection of artists, granting 50% financial support on accommodation and program expenses to 3 artists/ projects. 3 selected artists will be invited to live and work in Casa Xaán In Ná jungle retreat at Macario Gómez, Municipality of TULUM, MEXICO, each having access into private living/working quarters for the period length. We expect to create a small inter-discipline group of artists from different levels of evolution so we may benefit in learning from each other, experience about Mexican culture, low impact living, maybe network in future collaborations. While on residency we encourage communication and exposure of development into constructive criticism among attendants. This program, house and kitchen are hosted by a young mexican couple, architect and cook.

Program Description

Access to general facilities of the complex as into shared workshop (28m2), small library, guest kitchen, exterior lounge areas and a pond. Bathroom facilities outside room to be shared among other house guests. Electricity is limited to common areas. Limited wifi access, cellphone signal available. Laundry service off the premises. Guest artists are expected to supply and organize for their own cooking same as keep in clean condition the kitchen and personal areas. Expect an expense equivalent of 5 – 10usd per day for food supply to be found at short distance. The program includes welcoming dinner and introduction on history of the area. Travel and resource information will be extended on individual needs basis. The hosts organize a weekly dinner event with the residents and a group visit to archeological site to be discussed.
